Verily did Rob Healey write:

Busy Sparc 20 (load around 2.8) on busy subnet pulling file from my machine:
xview-3.2-NetBSD.tar.gz: 4930368 bytes received in 18.53 seconds, 259.82 K/s.

Rather idle Sparc LX on same subnet pulling file from my machine:
xview-3.2-NetBSD.tar.gz: 4930368 bytes received in 9.21 seconds, 522.86 K/s.

My performance over ethernet is acceptable, definately not 300b.

This is on i386 (486Dx/50 with all ISA motherboard), and -current.

As for tips, I really have no idea.
