So the TIMEZONE setting in the kernel is, I guess somewhat invisible
because Unix handles any timezone using the TZ environment variable.
The kernel setting has to be correct so that the offset to any chosen
timezone is true. Or are you 'academically' supposed to set your
computer's clock to GMT?
