On this, how hard would it be to make diskless booting use bootp or
even DHCP (depending on availability) ? Do we want to stick with bootp ?

Someone has done an implementation of DHCP based on the CMU bootp.
The pointer I have says:

The latest bootpd is available from:

 	ftp://firewall.mc.com/pub/bootp-2.4.3.tar.Z

And the patches to add DHCP are found:

	ftp://nimbus.anu.edu.au/pub/tridge/samba/contributed/DHCP.patch

It would be useful if someone picked it up, fixed all the word size
problems, tested it, and contributed the result to `us'.
