This is of course the problem.  The drive apparently works with 
xcdplayer, but I can't compile that for NetBSD/i386 without some work.  
Then there's xmcd, which requires Motif, and even then may not work... 
(*sigh*)

I might have to take the case apart and install a toggle for audio CDs.  
It's better than nothing.
