Ah, ok. Hello again, everyone.

Well, my machine is now running a Mar. 4 current kernel and the
source tree is ~Feb. 28 - Mar. 1. I have one minor problem with
X, which is to say that it doesn't run.

Yes, I initialized 'securelevel' to -1 on line 205 of
/usr/src/sys/kern/kern_sysctl.c, as someone specified here a
while ago... It didn't appear to work...

The message that I get from startx is as follows:

waiting for X server to begin accepting connections .
..
..
Fatal server error:
Failed to establish all listening sockets

giving up.
xinit: Connection refused (errno 61): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.

Does anyone know what's going on? The kernel was built with
COMPAT_LINUX (guess why), and other than that is identical
to a kernel I build a day ago which ran X just fine...Strangely
enough, that kernel now seems give the same error, which suggests
that something else has changed - between then and now, all I have
done is build and install the entire -current source tree...

Thanks to anyone who can give me any advice or pointers here.

Regards, Colin.
