Has anybody *any* archie-client working under -current?

I tried Perl-archie and the C archie client extracted from prospero -
both won't work. I double checked UDP connectivity and I definitely get
UDP packets from the server. Anyway, none of the clients works; "no
answer from server" or "timeout reading DIR list". All received packets
have been delivered according to "netstat -p udp".

What's wrong?
