I am against 'value added distributions'. This is what the Linux people do,
and.. it's a mess. If a certain package is installed, you have to start
searching: "Where the hell is it in this particular distribution". Also,
they put it in all the wrong places (/usr/tex, for example, ugh), and try
to glue it all together by lots of symlinks.

It would be fine if a set of packages was available on ftp sites.. but
they'd all have to have the same paths, please (under /usr/local). So
I'd like this to be well coordinated.
