Not only does the ioctl used for `mt status' report all drives as type
7 (for "Ultrix compatibility" it says--a laudable goal in a system not
running on vaxen or decstations, no doubt).  It also doesn't give you
any of the useful information you might have wanted, such as the file
marker position.
