SunOS is the best possible example of the worst possible configuration.

If you somehow lose /dev/zero, for example, shared libs won't run.
You have to restore from backups, or boot single-user from a distribution
CD.

"But you could just mknod /dev/zero, right?"

Well, you could, if Sun hadn't made the brilliant move of making "mknod"
a dynamically linked executable :-(.
