Well...Hehe...

I'm fooling around with making disk images of an hp7958 than can be dd'd 
onto a disk by hpux.  However, I'm also fooling around with making boot 
tapes.

I don't really know of a 'set-in-stone' procedure for bootstrapping an 
HP300 with hp-ux.  we did ours here with 4.3...
