After looking into the source of rmt in EP/IX it seems the man page is wrong.
Sorry about that.
(point 1 still stands, (ln -s /dev/sbin/rmt /etc/rmt).
Also the gnu/usr.bin/rtapelib.c expects /etc/rmt to start up...
