Thanks for everyone who replied. It turned out that the problem
was primarily with the /dev/pms0 file. The modified pms driver I
was using wanted c-37-0, and MAKEDEV was making c-37-1. Fixing that
and a couple minor things that I broke trying to get it fixed took
care of everything. Now to recompile for shared libraries...
