To compile everything, you need:
1. x11r5 mit sources
2. xfree86-2.1 sources
3. xfree86-2.1 diff (applied against x11r5 sources.)
4. (optionally) xfree86-2.1-2.1.1 diffs

ftp.cs.rmit.edu.au has (1) in pub/X11R5 (as 3 tar files instead of lots
of 500K chunks), and (2-4) in pub/netbsd/XFree86-2.1.1-src.

I recommend that you get (1) from ftp.x.org though.
