Actually, the hack is that you use a "Laplink" parallel cable which
cross-wires five of the data lines to the parallel port status
signals.

You use one bit as "clock", and the other four as data.

there seem to be two different versions of this floating around;
there's a linux driver which claims to be compatible with a DOS packet
driver, and a Mach driver which isn't compatible with the other two.
