This also happened to me with the March 26 sources, but here's a way to fix it.
sleep 1000 < /dev/tyy01
stty -f /dev/tty01 clocal
tip tty01
blah blah blah...
This works fine and dandy for me. In fact, that's what I did to get this
connetion up.
