I, for one, would vote for at least the option to use FIFO_TRIGGER_1
when the baudrate is <= 1200.  My serial mouse doesn't move nearly as
smoothly now.

That's not to say I'm not VERY pleased with the com.c changes.
Indeed, thank you very much for working so hard on the i386 drivers,
especially the com and wd drivers.  Now I can stop grudgingly
recommending Linux to IDE users.
