I've made a number of changes in the wd driver, mostly cleanup, but also
fixing at least one bug.  I'd appreciate it if someone with an unimportant
disk to sacrifice ;-) could test it and let me know if I broke anything.

I'm planning to make some more changes, but I want to know first if these
changes are okay, and I don't have the hardware to test it.
