It *is* an XFree86 bug.  It doesn't restore the cursor shape on exit.
If you're going to futz with the video card, it's your responsibility to
clean up after yourself, not pccons's.  It worked with the old pccons
because it set the shape every time the cursor was moved.

With respect to the LEDs, does it print anything on the console about it,
like `timeout updating leds'?
