I hope I am not too late on this thread...
I _don't_ install X386 in /usr/X386. I would prefer to see the
XFree86 team begin to use /usr/X11R5, in preparation for X11R6. This
would make it easier to have both online at the same time. I have
suggested this to the XFree86 team, and will mention it again.
