To expand on my previous questions:

I was finally able to boot the new kernel with the ahb0 driver, but it
required me to add port "IO_AHA0" to the config file. No one else has
replied that is using the ahb driver with > 16mb.

HOWEVER, having booted the ahb0, my first attempt to ping the *single*
ether card displayed a console message saying something about "NIC
corrupt memory at cc000!". The ether card is dead.

I rebooted the system, and the AHA1740 is also missing BIOS.....
Let me ask a stupid question... Are ROM's *really* read only??
Obviously they can be written, but is there any protection against overwrite?
