I have this wierd memory that the XM-3401 doesn't report a size unless
a disk is actually in the drive.  I think we used to get this on lamp
before Chris left the sprite disk in their.  We may have fixed the
message though.

I believe the rational is that size/geometry can be a function of the cdrom.
