Comment:

 Aha!  I have finally been able to reproduce the case I wanted, in Ubuntu
 10.04.  The prefix for the built scripts is lt-, so the thing we are
 trying to execute is .libs/lt-t_foo, when in reality we want t_foo.

 Also, stripping .libs seems broken in Linux (or some error message is, as
 it prints garbage).  Investigate.
