Subject: Xcl16 troubles...

I've got a Spectrum in my A3000 that I've been using for console
and with the Xamiga24 server for some time now, but I have yet to have any
success with Xcl16. I'd like to use it to get more than 8bit colour, and
the blitter support might be nice too.
The problem is, when the X background appears, that's it... it
freezes... or seems to, as no mouse pointer appears, and the keyboard
doesn't seem to do anything either... anyone know what the problem is?
I know that it looks for the X11R6 install in /usr/tmplocal for
some strange reason, so I've set up a link for that, and it no longer
complains about not finding the rgb db, but still no success :( I've also
checked permissions on my devs... I've set both /dev/mouse and /dev/kbd to
read/write for anyone... which didn't seem right to me... but then... that
didn't help either :-/
So what am I doing wrong? Anyone? I read some mention about wrong
versions of the X libs in some really old mailing-list archives... but no
solution... surely someone is using Xcl16 successfully with a 2Mb Spectrum?
