I was talking about reads and writes to files through the filesystem all
along, my raw speed is satisfactory, I have 3MB/s raw read speed (4.5Mb/s
under ados).

The thing I considered a problem was performance through the filesystem,
this is after all the way one is usually communicating with the disk (except
swapping).
