I just got a Sun3 running last night. In preparation for moving a drive
over to it, I NFS mounted a NetBSD/Amiga filesystem onto the Sun and copied
the files over using tar on the Sun.
To check my work, I then NFS mounted the Sun copy back on my Amiga and used
a shell script to "cmp" each of the files. (After hearing about Sun3
NetBSD ethernet problems, I was not too trusting.)
There was the odd discrepancy!
I cmp'ed by hand one of the files that was "in error". Sometimes it cmp'ed
clean, sometimes there were discrepancies (in different places each time).
Assuming that the Sun3 (running SunOS 4.1.1) isn't screwed, there may be a
problem with the NFS client/server or ed code on the Amiga. I will do more
investigation. Until then, you have been warned.
