I switched to using slip because my pppd ran away all the time.  It
worked fine for about 30 seconds or so after the initial connection.
Then the daemon started consuming all the cpu, and the network failed
to function for even pings. 

I'd prefer ppp over slip, since our slip lines are constantly busy
here.  Anyone else had similar problems, and hopefully a fix??
