Not only the tool, the 'grfmodes' file is outdatet aswell. In order to use
it together with the binary in X11R6.08Sep95-Xcl.tar.gz, which can be found
in the same directory (!) as Xcl-tools.tar.gz, one has to multiply all the
horizonzal values with the factor 8. Ignatios Souvatzis told me to try this
"trick", I would probably never have figured this out myself.

Maybe one of the cracks can find the time to compose an up-to-date Xcl
archive, complete with binaries, grfmode table for some monitors, and the
tools? I think this could save you from answering newbie's X-related
questions over and over again, plus it would own you a fat, hairy "thank
you" from loads of users. Please don't tell me to do it myself, because I
simply lack the knowledge necessary for this task. :(
