Well, it would, but if you have 3rd party software that is written to
use gmake, you really want a "self-contained" toolchain.  After
symlinking dance you make netbsd toolchain into a self-contained one,
so you can e.g. use it to build packages that use autoconf and are
cross-compilation friendly.
