I agree.

Days before 1.4-branch is cut is not the time for a new file system
interface (with resultant modifications to the file system primarily
used by most users) to be proposed and thrown in, even if they have
been tested for months elsewhere.

That they've been tested for months elsewhere indicates that they,
especially the opaque data and 'vnextops()' interfaces, should have
been proposed and discussed long ago.  (I might have missed such a
discussion, but i kinda doubt it.  8-)
