Before giving up on it, could you see if you can make use of the xn0
interface in PV mode?

Just try to ssh in, you should get "Disconnected: Packet corrupt". Then
try ifconfig xn0 -txcsum -rxcsum, see if you get the "response is -1!"
in the console (the ssh client should block in select in the mean time)
