The 3/80 is probably already max.d out at 16MB :-(
Only some newer 3/80 can make use of 4 MB SIMMs.
Or you need to upgrade the PROMs and make a hardware
modification...

On the other hand: 16 MB is quite enough for a Sun3!!!
Only a server needs more. On a b&w Sun3, X runs like
a charm with only 12 MB. Color might need more though.

Tried to get those 30 pin SIMMs recently?
Their price doubled in the last three months.
I really sould have got a bunch of 1Meg SIMMS before
x-mas, but i was short on money...

Anyway, a real Unix like NetBSD is capable of paging
which helps a lot to use the memory efficently.
