I get no joy with a GENERIC kernel, either.

Just to review: I'm trying to boot and run a -current kernel on an older
userland (prior to the signal changes), with the intent of recompiling the
userland too. However, new kernels appear not to be backward compatible
with old userlands as they (I thought) were supposed to be: things die and
leave .core turds all over the place, even static binaries like shells. The
files in /bin are all dated September 10th, which predates the signal
changes.

So, what's up with that?
