Sure.  But why bother?  In such a setup, all init is doing is running
/etc/rc, not any of the other goop init is capable of, so the only
difference between that and making /sbin/init a shellscript is that you
have an extra executable sitting around, both on-disk and in-core.

Or Am I Missing Something (tm)? :-)
