Per the suggestion, I tried again with the sparc boot floppy images
found at
"ftp://releng.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD-daily/netbsd-1-6/
200212090000/sparc/installation"

Still no luck - these too fail with the following error:

Bad magic number in disk label
Can't open Sun disk label package
Can't open boot device

ok

Is there a simple way to just make my own boot floppies?
