Subject: problems booting 1.2{.1} on Sparc 1+

System: Sparc 1+ / 16MB / 1.2GB Maxtor MXT-1240S

Facts:

1. System boots fine via netboot and I can mount the hard disk.
2. System boots via hard disk, identifies all the devices, but hangs
   immediately after "root on sd0a".
3. I get the exact same response when booting 1.2 and 1.2.1 GENERIC kernels.

Help?
