Dear fellow NetBSD users,

On Wednesday May 2nd the sixth NetBSD hackathon[1] will take place. This time,
the hackathon will focus on OEA[2] PowerPC ports and chips. There are a few
specific goals for this hackathon:

1) Find code that various ppc ports are duplicating, and move this code to a
common location under arch/powerpc.

2) Look at things some of the OEA PPC ports do differently for no good reason,
and try to make them more similar.

3) If possible, try to fix the ppc ports that do not yet implement soft
interrupts, event counting, and timecounters.

4) General machine dependant work on any OEA PPC port.

Because this hackathon has a rather specific focus on a particular machine
architecture, its not likely to be of interest to most NetBSD users. However,
as allways, user participation is welcome, and wanted. Anyone who has an
interest in the OEA powerpc ports, or who might be willing to test various
changes, is welcome to attend.

The hackathon will take place on the 2nd of May (Wed) on #netbsd-code on
irc.freenode.org.

[2] OEA PowerPC refers to the 601, 603, 604, and similar chips. Specifically,
not the 403/401 and other embedded chips.
