well,I installed OS7.6 to extra-harddisk and check it....
the "narrowness" same as 8.1....
 Then I bought a new lithium battery and put it to Performa588.
I feel a bit wider than when used "weakened" one.....
But I found that the "hitchy" mouse pointer moving gonna "smooth".
 Then I boot NetBSD-1.3.3 ....still narrow....
More than half year ago I test 1.3.2.....So
maybe this is a difference of "spec" between 1.3.2 and 1.3.3 ...I feel like.

 I don't want to test 1.3.2 again....don't want to back to 1.3.2
'cos when I installed 1.3.3,it took quite shorter time('bout half) than 
1.3.2 

and again I must say that Performa588 has only one selection "640x480"
in MacOS's "monitor" control panel.
