Hm. I'm starting to think that biting the bullet might just be necessary,
then. I'll download the latest snapshot and unpack it tomorrow, I guess.
There are still a couple months to go 'till 1.3, and I'll end up tracking
-current after that, so now's as good a time as any to leapfrog up to newer
binaries.
