Yes, I'm using LFS as a root file system since a while without any problems.

$ mount

/dev/wd0a on / type lfs (local)
ptyfs on /dev/pts type ptyfs (local)
kernfs on /kern type kernfs (local)
tmpfs on /tmp type tmpfs (local)
