I have done it with both release-1-5 and -current on a PowerMac G4. GENERIC
kernels booted fine although I did also create a custom kernels. In my
experience, the network and network services worked without trouble. I
can't comment on availability of devices other than network.
Not surprisingly, it does run much slower than running on native hardware.
