Having set up /etc/ttys and /etc/gettytab properly, I can now dial into my
386/33 successfully.  However, when I try to start pppd, the following
message appears on the console:

nerodia pppd[2651]: ioctl (PPPIOCGFLAGS): Inappropriate ioctl for device

I've searched DejaNews for occurrences of this message, and discovered
that users of FreeBSD, BSDI and NetBSD have reported it.  No one, however,
seems to have posted an answer to anybody.

Can anyone on this list hazard a guess as to why I'm getting this message?
