I get "vertical bars" every 10-15 resumes. In my case it does not seem to
have anything to do with whether I'm in X or not. In addition to the 64MB
CF in the CF slot, I am using the PCMCIA card slot for my 256 MB CF card.
After reading other posts I suspect that this is why I get "vertical bars"
so much more often than others report. I do try to give 5-10 seconds of
inactivity before suspending to minimize access to the PCMCIA/CF card, but
it seems to make no difference.

I think it would be cool to be able to blank the unit's screen without
suspending, not only to avoid "vertical bars" but also so that you can run
background processes without having the screen draw battery power.

Does anyone know how much power the screen eats? Would this screen blanking
even make that much difference.
