 i86:

 $ bmake show-var VARNAME=IS_BUILTIN.tcp_wrappers
 no

 sparc:

 $ bmake show-var VARNAME=IS_BUILTIN.tcp_wrappers
 yes

 identical to IS_BUILTIN

 I have tried different debug options of bmake some time ago, but none
 would help (in a way I am aware of) to understand the flow of
 information and to see, at which point things start to diverge.
