   The aforementioned mplayer plays, and saves, RTSP (and MMS) streams 
(rtsp:// and mms:// URLs) which might be what you mean.

   I use it all the time to dump "content" which is supposed to be watched 
in webpages.  TV channels are especially notorious for refusing to use 
plain HTTP...
