Well, we have this production E250 SPARC and a Dual-PIII Server
running Solaris and Linux respectively. The reason why we need such
power is to work with a certain server which is a pain to get running.
Its runs on Solaris and needs an oracle DB to talk to. At present I
have gotten it to work with Oracle 8.0.5 on a NetBSD linux emul, but
performance is not that great, not for production anyway; but its
somewhat comparable to the Oracle running on the Linux box. My
co-workers disagree it(NetBSD) not being that to run at par with the
Linux SMP box.

I did read a few reviews particularly
http://www.daemonnews.org/200008/dadvocate.html by Greg Lehey which
does talk about SMP in detail. A glance throught the NetBSD SMP List
did not turn up much, and not many docs/specs on SMP in NetBSD are
avaiable, and hence the question.
