 I doubt that anything has actually changed since the problem is (probably)
 one of interrupt latency, FIFO size and the shere (lack of) speed of
 the ISA bus.
 
 I actually suspect thing are getting worse!
 
 OTOH keeping the PR open is rather pointless!
