used 1750 for FreeBSD. the broadcom gig-E nics can have problems. autoneg can set
the card into a null state.  wiring the card state is fine.

apart from that, FB works fine on this box.

the 750 is the successor to the 650. FreeBSD works fine on the 650 hardware.

(I know its not NetBSD, but it may offer encouragement, there is some sharing
 of knowledge)
