i'm getting the following kernel config error

$ cd /src/sys/arch/i386/conf
$ config GENERIC
../../../../arch/i386/conf/majors.i386:6: syntax error
*** Stop.

i just checked out this src this afternoon.  does anyone have a suggested fix?  
or know where i can find the syntax of the majors.i386 file?
