Why -u? You're probably failing now because you've got broken
objects around from your last build. Also, I'd leave off the -T
based on the second sentence of this:

     -T tools  Set the value of TOOLDIR to tools.  If set, the bootstrap
               ``make'' will only be rebuilt as needed (when the source fil=
es
               for make(1) change).
