I'm seeing NFS (or perhaps the network ???) periodically freeze on a
pair of x86 boxes running current (5/3/98). The symptoms are the
client machine complains "NFS server isn't responding". This happens
approx. once per hour.

Pinging from the NFS server to the NFS client will unfreeze the wedge.
This leads me to believe that its a network hang (dropped
interrupt???) and the ping is enough to prime the pumps again.

Is there a better work around than keeping ping running in the
background?
